Lauderdale Lakes ignites business growth with ‘Meet, Greet & Grow’ event

Hosted by the Economic Development Advisory Board, the gathering served as an enthusiastic kickoff for the city’s plans to establish a Lauderdale Lakes Chamber of Commerce.

The event attracted a strong turnout of local entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders, many representing the city’s vibrant Caribbean population, including a notable Jamaican and Haitian presence. Lauderdale Lakes, a small city with a rich cultural tapestry, is governed in part by three Jamaican commissioners, underscoring the close ties to the Caribbean business community.

“This event showed us that our business community is ready to unify, collaborate, and grow together,” said Vielka Buchanan, the city’s Economic Development Manager. Attendees expressed optimism that the Chamber will act as a centralized hub for business advocacy, networking, and support—especially for small and minority-owned enterprises that form the backbone of the city’s economy.

The proposed Chamber of Commerce aims to provide members with a host of benefits, including marketing exposure, business development workshops, access to funding resources, and a stronger voice in shaping local policies. It will also promote entrepreneurship, attract investment, and encourage community-driven initiatives tailored to Lauderdale Lakes’ unique needs.

One local business owner reflected the excitement in the room, saying, “This is just the beginning. It’s exciting to see Lauderdale Lakes putting small businesses front and center. I’m proud to be part of this new chapter.”

The City encourages all interested business owners to stay involved as plans continue to develop. For more information, contact the Economic Development Manager at 954-535-2492.

This initiative represents a meaningful commitment from Lauderdale Lakes to build a more inclusive and business-friendly environment that leverages its cultural diversity and strong community spirit to foster sustainable economic growth.
