Residents have until Monday, July 22, 2024, to register to vote or update their party affiliation. Floridians can check their voter registration status or register online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.

“Monday, July 22, 2024, is the deadline to register to vote for the August 20, 2024, Primary Election. It is also the deadline to update your party affiliation. In order to vote in Florida, you must be a registered voter for the election in which you wish to vote,” stated Secretary Byrd. “I want to ensure that all eligible Floridians take the opportunity to register before the book closing on July 22, 2024.”

Florida operates under a closed primary election system, meaning only registered members of political parties can vote for their respective party’s candidates or nominees in primary elections, including the presidential preference primary.

Voters can register with a party or change their party affiliation at any time, but to participate in a party’s upcoming primary, they must be registered with that party by the registration deadline for that election.
