With the addition of the splash pad, pavilion, restroom, and sidewalk in the park’s northwestern area, the aim is to breathe new life into the space and cultivate a stronger sense of community unity.

These enhancements are not just about providing fun for residents of all ages; they also encourage children to embrace physical activity, promoting healthier lifestyles. City officials said they are eager to witness the positive impact these improvements will bring to the neighborhood, transforming the park into a bustling center of activity and social connection.

This playground is part of ongoing efforts to enhance Lauderdale Lakes’ parks through the use of impact fees, as outlined in the City’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

The focus is on expanding access to play spaces for local children, exemplified by the creation of a new playground designed by the kids themselves. This initiative ensures that children have access to high-quality, safe play areas conveniently located near their homes and schools.

The grand opening celebration of the new playground at Vincent Torres Memorial Park is set for Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
