Broward County Launches Emergency Rental Assistance Program

BY DANIELLE DOMOND

Broward County is working to assist individuals that have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic by providing $53 million in funding to tenants that are past due on rent and/or utility payments.

The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) aids up to 12 months and the guidelines do require residents to meet certain income requirements to be eligible. It is easy for residents and landlords to apply online with the new ERAP Application Portal.

The county has enacted various resources such as local contact centers located in Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, Carver Ranches and Fort Lauderdale with information available.

Call centers open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday are staffed with multilingual English, Spanish, Haitian/Creole-speaking professionals; and multilingual flyers that can be found at https://www.broward.org/RentAssistance.

DO NOT DELAY. Apply before funding runs out.
