Turks and Caicos Islands Police Commissioner Edvin Martin has strongly condemned the recent bomb threats targeting airports in Grand Turk and Providenciales.
In a video message released on Wednesday, Martin expressed his unequivocal condemnation of those responsible for creating chaos through cyberspace.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) views bomb hoaxes and threats as reprehensible acts aimed at disrupting the community.
Series of threats unveiled
Between April 26 and 29, a total of four bomb threats were reported at the JAGS McCartney International Airport and Howard Hamilton International Airport.
These threats prompted the suspension of operations at both facilities as law enforcement conducted thorough searches for explosives.
Following investigations, authorities concluded that the incidents were indeed hoaxes, as no explosives were found after extensive searches.
Beyond the airports, the scope of the threats extended to government officials, with Martin disclosing that threats against their lives had also been received.
Police vow to pursue justice
In his address to the islanders, Martin affirmed the unwavering commitment of RTCIPF officers to apprehending those responsible for the threats and ensuring they face the full force of justice.
International cooperation sought
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, RTCIPF has reached out to both regional and international law enforcement agencies for assistance in identifying and apprehending the perpetrator.
Martin urged anyone with information regarding the incidents to come forward and assist the police in their investigation.
