Police in Guyana are investigating the death of two mothers, who drowned late Sunday while at a family outing at Feather Beach on the Essequibo Coast.
The authorities have named the two women as Akeesia Tyrell, 24, and Kawattie Lallbacchan, 25, both of whom had three children each.
Tyrell, was supposed to celebrate her birthday on Monday and the family planned the lake trip for Sunday and Lallbacchan joined the excursion.
A family member of one of the dead women, said they were all in the water, dancing and having a good time when there was a sudden current that started to pull them. A number of other persons managed to swim to shore, while others were pulled by relatives.
After hours of searching, the bodies of the two women were found.
They were taken to the Suddie Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
A postmortem is expected to be conducted on Monday.
