In a series of raids conducted on New Year’s Day, Jamaican police seized multiple firearms while launching manhunts for criminals who fled the scenes, leaving behind weapons.
Firearm recovery in St. Andrew North
In the St. Andrew North area, police officers executed a search operation on Fagan Avenue, Gants Pen, Kingston 8, leading to the discovery of a 9mm pistol, two magazines, and twenty-six 9mm rounds of ammunition.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. when patrolling officers observed a group of individuals standing along the roadway.
Upon approaching, the crowd dispersed, and a search of the vicinity resulted in the firearm and ammunition recovery. The investigation into this incident is currently underway.
Smith and Wesson revolver seized in Kingston 5
In a separate raid carried out by law enforcement personnel from the St. Andrew Central Police Division, a .38 Smith and Wesson Revolver was recovered during an intelligence-led operation along Godpyle Road in Kingston 5.
According to reports from the Cross Roads Police, at approximately 6:05 a.m., officers acted on a tip-off and proceeded to a gully in the area.
There, they discovered the revolver concealed in a brown bag. The weapon was subsequently sent to the Forensic Laboratory for processing. At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the seizure, and the investigation remains active.
May Pen operation yields shotgun and cartridge
In yet another successful operation on New Year’s Day, lawmen assigned to the May Pen Operation Support Team conducted an intelligence-led operation in Oaks Pen, Rosewell, Sandy Bay Clarendon.
During this operation, which occurred at around 12:20 p.m., officers acted on information received and conducted a search of an unused fowl coop. Their efforts were rewarded with the discovery of a 12-gauge shotgun and one cartridge.
