This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving basic infrastructure in rural areas, ensuring residents have essential services like water and road access.

Strategic enhancements in infrastructure

During a recent tour of the ongoing infrastructure projects in Pimento Walk, Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Prime Minister Andrew Holness highlighted the significant investment the government is making in water infrastructure.

The acquisition of the water pumps, which are part of a broader strategy to improve living conditions, represents a substantial financial commitment—approximately $20 million per pump.

Focused improvements and future plans

Prime Minister Holness pointed out that alongside the current maintenance, the government is actively investing in new water supply systems and road repairs.

The tour also included a visit to ongoing road works in the community, which are being managed by the National Works Agency (NWA).

This visit is part of a series of inspections across St. Ann to monitor progress and ensure the successful implementation of these critical projects.

Collaboration and oversight

To effectively address the infrastructural challenges, Senator Matthew Samuda and Robert Morgan, key ministers in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, have been tasked with assessing water and road conditions in various communities.

Their goal is to balance the limited national budget against the pressing need for essential services, demonstrating the government’s proactive approach to resource management and community support.
