Lee, which passed Bermuda as a Category 1 storm, led to widespread power outages and caused businesses and schools to shut down. However, in its wake, it spared the island any major damage as the Caribbean grapples with a tense 2023 Atlantic hurricane season.

The next threat: Hurricane Nigel

While Lee’s effects are still fresh in the minds of the locals, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a new alert.

They forecast that Hurricane Nigel, currently stationed about 935 miles east-southeast of Bermuda, is expected to escalate into a major hurricane by Tuesday.

Tracking the storm’s path

According to the NHC’s latest weather bulletin, Nigel is progressing northwestward at a pace of nearly 12 mph.

This trajectory is anticipated to hold steady over the next few days. However, by late Tuesday, the storm is predicted to veer north before accelerating northeastward throughout the remainder of the week.
