Law enforcement authorities in Belize have reported a surge in suspected drug planes making their way from South America into Belizean airspace.

Reports are that some of those flights have gone as far as the Turks and Caicos Islands.
It was further reported that last Friday an aircraft left South America and, within a few hours, crossed over into Belize before disappearing from the radar altogether.
A potential detour into Guatemala
According to reports, authorities believe that the plane subsequently entered Guatemala.
However, according to an aerial survey undertaken on Sunday, the remains of the aircraft were found in the area of Corazon Creek.
