The Recording Academy has unveiled the nominees for the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, spotlighting a vibrant mix of reggae and dancehall artistry.
The list of nominees brings together veteran voices and rising stars, including Bob Marley’s legacy, and signals the continued global reach of reggae and dancehall music.
Leading the reggae nominees is Take It Easy by Collie Buddz, a favorite among reggae purists. Also in the running is Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By The Film, a tribute album celebrating Marley’s enduring impact on music worldwide. Rounding out the reggae entries, Evolution by The Wailers has also secured a nomination, bringing the group back into the Grammy spotlight.
In a nod to dancehall’s increasing prominence, the category also features entries from two of the genre’s most influential voices: Vybz Kartel and Shenseea. Kartel’s Party With Me and Shenseea’s Never Gets Late Here are both nominated.
Notably, Julian Marley and Antaeus won the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album with their collaborative work, Colors of Royal.
Of this year’s nominees, only Shenseea and Vybz Kartel have never won in the category.
The Recording Academy received a record 75 albums and compilations for consideration in the reggae category, representing a wide range of reggae and dancehall talent. Standout submissions that did not make the final list of nominees included The Gentle Man by Romain Virgo, I am Chippy by Teejay, and entries from Ras Shiloh, Samory-I, SOJA, Mutabaruka, UB40, Gyptian, and Spice.
The eligibility period for Grammy submissions spanned from September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024.
Winners of the 67th Grammy Awards will be announced during the live ceremony on February 2, 2025, at Los Angeles’s Crypto.com Arena, which will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
Voting for the 2024 Grammy Awards took place from October 4 to October 15, and excitement builds as music fans and industry insiders look forward to the big night in February.
