Grammy nominated dancehall artiste Spice latest work Mirror 25 made its debut on this week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart, entering at number seven.
Mirror 25 marks Spice’s fifth entry on the chart. Her previous efforts include So Mi Like It (EP), which peaked at number 14 in December 2014, Captured, which reached number 1 in November 2018, 10, which climbed to number six in August 2021, and Emancipated, which peaked at number seven in September 2022.
Spice now ranks as the second female Jamaican artiste with the most entries on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, following Etana, who leads with six entries, including two number-ones.
In an interview with ABC News Spice said the inspiration for the album came from her time in the industry “The inspiration comes from me being in the business for 25 years. I started in 1999, so I’m typically just mirroring my 25 years in dancehall music. So I’m just going back through everything that I managed to overcome. Being a female artist.”
Released on August 9 via Spice Official Entertainment, Mirror 25 features collaborations with Busta Rhymes, Chronic Law, Jada Kingdom, Patoranking, Pamputtae, Lola Brooke, and Ky-Mani Marley.
The album has made an impressive debut, skyrocketing to #1 on the Reggae iTunes chart, while also securing the #2 spot on the USA and UK all-genre charts, #1 in Israel, and #3 in Canada—all within minutes of its release. This marks the highest-charting album by a Jamaican artist on iTunes in this era.
