Skinny Fabulous soars with LIAT as first brand ambassador

In a bold new chapter for regional aviation and culture, soca star Gamal “Skinny Fabulous” Doyle has been named the inaugural brand ambassador for LIAT (2020) Limited, the restructured Caribbean airline seeking to reclaim its legacy with renewed vision and purpose.

The announcement was made during an unveiling ceremony at the Royalton Chic Resort, where LIAT’s Chief Executive Officer, Hafsah Abdulsalam, introduced the airline’s “SOAR” mission—an acronym for Service Excellence, Openness, Accountability, and Resilience. According to Abdulsalam, these core values are mirrored in the persona of Skinny Fabulous, making the Vincentian soca powerhouse a perfect partner.

“This collaboration is not merely about endorsement—it holds personal significance for me,” said Skinny Fabulous, whose own journey across the Caribbean has often been carried by the wings of LIAT. “I grew up on LIAT,” he reflected, describing the partnership as more of a “marriage” than a marketing arrangement.

The appointment is part of LIAT’s broader strategy to strengthen its cultural relevance and deepen connections with Caribbean communities, both at home and across the diaspora. The airline currently links vital regional hubs including Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, and St. Lucia—supporting both tourism and economic integration in an evolving travel landscape.

Skinny Fabulous is no stranger to regional love and global stages. He first exploded onto the soca scene in 2008 with the infectious hit Head Bad during Vincy Mas, claiming his first soca title and setting the tone for what would become a stellar career. Known for his commanding stage presence and razor-sharp lyrical delivery, Skinny has since earned a reputation as one of the genre’s most electrifying performers and prolific writers.

He is a five-time St. Vincent and the Grenadines Soca Monarch champion and has penned or performed some of the biggest Carnival anthems of the last decade. In 2019, his collaboration with Trinidadian icons Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin—Famalay—topped charts across the Caribbean and made history as the first ever non-Trinidadian song to win the International Soca Monarch title.

His musical footprint spans further with collaborations that bridge soca, dancehall, and EDM. From teaming up with Bounty Killer, Busy Signal, and Shaggy, to fusing sounds with Dutch producer Mr. Z.

As brand ambassador, Skinny Fabulous is expected to play a key role in promoting travel, tourism, and cultural pride through LIAT’s renewed efforts. His appointment symbolizes a union of transportation and entertainment—two sectors critical to the Caribbean’s vibrancy and identity.

In his words, this partnership is about “more than planes and performances—it’s about people.”
