Dancehall star Shenseea has officially confirmed that she is now an independent artist, marking a bold new chapter in her musical journey.
In a video shared via her Instagram Story, the “Hit & Run” singjay revealed that she’s been operating independently since November 2024, following her quiet departure from Interscope Records. “I feel like I can find back a lot of fun and passion in my music right now,” she told fans, signaling a renewed sense of creative control and freedom.
Shenseea, born Chinsea Lee, had been signed to Interscope since 2019, in a partnership with producer Rvssian’s Rich Immigrants label. That deal produced two standout projects: her debut album Alpha in 2022, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, and the Grammy-nominated follow-up Never Gets Late Here in 2024.
While rumors of her label exit had been swirling for weeks, her confirmation ends speculation and comes amid a career high. In recent days, Shenseea has turned heads on the international stage, performing at Davido’s “5ive” album listening party in Los Angeles and Vybz Kartel’s sold-out concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Her momentum continues to surge thanks to the viral success of the “Shake It to the Max (Remix)” featuring Moliy, Skillibeng, and Silent Addy—a high-energy track that’s dominating TikTok and Spotify playlists worldwide.
Now free from major label oversight, the ShengYeng queen is embracing her independence with optimism and fire, hinting at more self-driven music and performances to come.
