Get ready to be mesmerized once again by the annual musical extravaganza, Rhythms of Africa, which returns to Miramar in March. Directed by Reggae Ambassador Willie Stewart, this year’s concert is themed “Strength of a Woman,” aligning with Women’s Month.
This year’s staging of Rhythms of Africa will celebrate the outstanding contributions of female icons from the Caribbean and beyond.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 16th at 7 pm and Sunday, March 17th at 5 pm at the Miramar Cultural Center. Tickets are available at miramarculturalcenter.org, priced at $30-35.
Women headliners
Headlining this spectacular event are two exceptional talents: Etana, an internationally acclaimed reggae artist known as “The Strong One,” and Alison Hinds, the queen of Barbados’ social and cultural ambassadorship.
Prepare to be enchanted by special guest appearances, including narration by author/social media influencer Kamila McDonald, and a performance by her remarkable 11-year-old vocalist daughter, Kailani Belle.

Tribute to Ibo Cooper
A heartfelt tribute will be paid to Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper, former leader of Third World, by Prilly Hamilton, former Third World lead singer. The concert will also feature award-winning musicians and dancers, including Miramar High School students under the guidance of Embrace Music Foundation and Willie Stewart.
Miramar High School students, trained in a thirty-hour drumming workshop, will showcase their talent alongside seasoned professionals, fostering growth and excitement.
DWisdom, lead backup singer to Beres Hammond, will add an extra layer of excitement and diversity to the evening’s festivities.
Presented by Embrace Music Foundation, with the patronage of Consul General Oliver Mair and the support of the City of Miramar, this event promises to spotlight resilience, power, grace, and cultural diversity through the enchanting medium of music.
