Rebel Salute heads to Florida for first international staging

Rebel Salute, one of Jamaica's most celebrated cultural festivals, will take its legacy abroad for the first time in its 31-year history. Founder Tony Rebel confirmed plans to stage the iconic event in Florida on April 20, 2025, a date globally recognized as 4/20 in cannabis culture.

Speaking to The Jamaica Gleaner, Tony Rebel shared his enthusiasm for this landmark moment, stating, "Plans are far advanced, or else I would not have announced it. That’s why there’s only one night in Jamaica this year. Some people can’t come here, so we are taking Rebel Salute to them."

The 2025 Jamaican edition of Rebel Salute was a single-day event on January 18 at Plantation Cove, St. Ann, diverging from its traditional two-night format. This streamlined event served as a precursor to the upcoming Florida staging, emphasizing the festival’s ability to adapt while maintaining its cultural authenticity.

April 20, or 4/20, holds special significance in cannabis culture, celebrated internationally with events, protests, and gatherings that honor marijuana consumption and advocacy.
