Patrick Brown’s Room 513 takes center stage in South Florida this weekend

Just in time for Mother’s Day, Florida’s leading Caribbean theatre promoter, Whirlwind Live Performances, is bringing the heat with a special two-night run of Room 513, the latest laugh-out-loud drama from award-winning Jamaican playwright Patrick Brown.

Known for turning everyday chaos into comedic gold, Brown’s new play lands in South Florida on Saturday, May 10 at Everglades High School, and Sunday, May 11 at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts.

Room 513 pulls no punches. Set in a hotel room where secrets unravel fast, the play centers around Lance, a hotel maintenance man (played by Glen Campbell), and Lilly, a visiting social media manager (played by Sharee Elise), whose casual meeting spirals out of control. Things go from awkward to explosive when their spouses — Tom (Courtney Wilson) and Joy (Quera South) — show up unexpectedly. What follows is a hilarious yet piercing exploration of love, loyalty, and temptation, delivered with Patrick Brown’s signature blend of wit and realism.

“This is more than just a play — it’s a reflection of real life, told with humor and heart,” said a representative from Whirlwind. “We’re proud to continue our tradition of celebrating Caribbean talent and stories right here in Florida.”

With over a decade of championing Caribbean theatre in Florida, the group continues its mission of spotlighting top-tier Jamaican talent and bringing culturally rich, high-quality productions to local audiences.

Whether you’re planning a date night or looking for a fresh Mother’s Day experience, Room 513 promises an unforgettable evening full of laughter, gasps, and relatable moments.
