Masicka signals new album is complete

Masicka recently sent fans online into a frenzy after confirming that his third studio album is officially complete.

The announcement came via social media platform X, where the deejay posted the brief message, “Album Ready My Side,” instantly sparking excitement among his fan base and igniting speculation about when the project will officially drop.

Within minutes of the post, fans flooded the comments with fire emojis, hearts and celebratory reactions surrounding what is expected to be one of dancehall’s biggest releases of the year.

While Masicka has yet to reveal the album’s title, release date or full track list, momentum has already been building following the release of three strong singles over the past month — namely, Slip and Slide, Boasty and Ting Loud, the latter featuring reggae star Protoje.

Of the trio, Slip and Slide has emerged as a breakout international success. Produced by Stephen McGregor on his wildly controversial remake of the Hill and Gully Ride rhythm, the track surged to No. 3 on the global Shazam Top 200 chart. The strong early response suggests that Masicka’s forthcoming project could continue the commercial trajectory that has steadily elevated him into the upper echelon of dancehall performers.

The upcoming album will follow his Her Name Is Love EP, released in December via Def Jam Recordings, which showcased a more emotionally layered side of the artist.

Before that came his 2023 Def Jam debut, Generation of Kings, a 17-track body of work that debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and solidified his international standing.

That project was built on the commercial and critical success of 438, his 2021 breakthrough studio album. 438 not only delivered fan favorites and lyrical showcases but also positioned Masicka as one of the genre’s most technically gifted and commercially viable voices.

Together, 438 and Generation of Kings marked a defining period in his career, proving his ability to craft cohesive projects capable of resonating both locally and internationally. Now, with a third studio effort reportedly complete, expectations are high that Masicka is preparing to raise the bar once again.

The timing also aligns with what promises to be a major summer run for the deejay, who is gearing up for several performances, including an appearance at Reggae Land in the United Kingdom.
