Mother of Kodak Black’s artist, Syko Bob, killed by gun violence in Ft. Lauderdale

Family members and neighbors of a woman discovered fatally shot inside a van in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday night have confirmed her identity as Dorothy “Dee Dee” Smart, who is known as the mother of South Florida rapper Syko Bob.

They remember Dee Dee Smart as a warm and sociable woman. Her son, Cambrell Smart, who goes by the stage name Syko Bob, is affiliated with the well-known South Florida artist Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri.

The local police swiftly responded to the distressing incident, arriving at the 2000 block of Northwest 30th Way at around 6:08 p.m. following reports of the shooting.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, but tragically, the victim was pronounced dead on-site. She was discovered inside a van parked in the driveway of a single-family home.

As of now, law enforcement authorities have disclosed that no arrests have been made concerning Smart’s tragic demise. They have not yet revealed any potential motives behind the shooting.

It is noteworthy that Syko Bob himself has experienced the grim consequences of gun violence in the past. He was one of three individuals shot on State Road 7 in Lauderhill back in 2021.
