Grammy-nominated rapper Busta Rhymes will be honored with the Elite Icon Award at the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards, set for Aug. 28 at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn.
The Jamaican-American star, known for blending Caribbean roots with mainstream hip-hop, will be recognized for his decades-long influence on global music. Organizers say the award reflects his role as a trailblazer and cultural ambassador.
The night will feature performances by Ding Dong, Lila Iké, Lady Lava, Kranium, Chronic Law, Skinny Fabulous, Romain Virgo, Maureen, Full Blown, and Konshens, with more acts to be announced.
Comedian Majah Hype will return as host. “The energy, the talent, the culture—it’s going to be an unforgettable night,” he said in a statement.
In addition to Busta Rhymes, several other honorees will be recognized. Carimi will receive the Legacy Award, Sizzla Kalonji will be presented with the Humanitarian Award for his work through the Sizzla Youth Foundation, and gospel artist Shirleyann Cyril-Mayers will receive the Gospel Honors. Producer Kerwin Du Bois, calypsonian Austin “Super Blue” Lyons, and dancehall legend Bounty Killer will also be celebrated.
