The single, which was produced by Banton and Lloyd “Jon Jon,” contains a hardcore 90s dancehall riddim as Buju urges for girls to have fun and celebrate their liberation from lockdowns this summer.

The new song follows the release of visuals for a collaboration with Nigerian singer Tomi Thomas titled Hurricane.

The song has received positive feedback from fans, with many praising Banton for reverting to his gritty 90s style.

“This reminds mi of the old Buju. Can we get more of this style please it’s missing from our music jah jah.”

Another added, “This is the Buju I grew up on…..Bogle, Big It Up, Batty Rider, Have to Get You Tonight, Look How You Sweet etc, etc, etc.”

Banton’s last album was Upside Down 2020, which was released last year and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

Summer Body is available for streaming on YouTube.
