The track, the second single from Alborosie’s album Destiny, made its debut on September 15, via Greensleeves Records.

Crafting sonic masterpieces

In “Nah Sell Out,” listeners are treated to robust 808-style beats, arresting orchestral hits, and a potent dread bassline—all meticulously mixed by Alborosie at his renowned Shengen Studio located in Kingston, Jamaica.

Demonstrating his unparalleled production prowess, Alborosie solidifies his standing as a preeminent figure in contemporary reggae production. When paired with the incisive lyricism and compelling flow shared between Kabaka and Alborosie, it becomes evident why this song is enjoying widespread acclaim, receiving strong support from celebrated selectors, including the likes of David Rodigan.

“Well, the song with Kabaka is a song that I produced. I built the riddim and wrote part of the song with Kabaka, so I’m very attached to the song,” Alborosie said.

“It reflects the reality of the situation that we all need money to survive in life, but we’re not gonna sell out. So we’re not doing things that go against what we believe and what we want — our spiritual beliefs, our way of life. We’re not going to sell out just for money. We’re going to keep being who we are, so we nah sell out. Still need to pay the bills, but we nah sell out,” he continued.

He further shared that working on the song and video was a great experience, adding that Kabaka has been a good friend to him for many years.

A year of triumph for Alborosie

Alborosie is riding the waves of a highly successful year, marked by the launch of his album, Destiny. The album, a treasure trove of rich tracks featuring artists like Buju Banton and Jaz Elise, has been the soundtrack to Alborosie’s extensive touring schedule, which saw him performing on stages along the U.S. West Coast and throughout Europe.

The momentum is far from waning for the Sicilian-Jamaican dynamo, as ‘Pupa Albo’ is slated to kick off a comprehensive South American tour later this year, further propagating his signature, uplifting reggae vibrations.
