Thalia Lyn recognized with prestigious Thai honor for exceptional service

Renowned businesswoman Thalia Lyn known for her 21-year tenure as the Royal Thai General Consul in Jamaica, has been bestowed with the esteemed Order of the White Elephant by the Kingdom of Thailand, Commander Grade.

His Excellency Kallayana Vipattipumiprates, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, bestowed this distinguished accolade upon Lyn during a ceremony held in Ottawa, Canada, on March 28.

Symbol of remarkable contributions

The Order of the White Elephant stands as one of Thailand’s significant honors, reserved for individuals who exhibit exceptional dedication to the advancement of Thai culture, bilateral relations, and humanitarian endeavors.

Lyn’s steadfast commitment to nurturing strong bonds between Thailand and Jamaica, alongside her notable efforts in fostering cultural exchange and understanding, has merited her this prestigious recognition.

Diplomatic leadership and cultural promotion

Throughout her tenure as the Thai General Consul in Jamaica, Lyn played a pivotal role in fortifying diplomatic ties and facilitating diverse cultural and economic exchanges between the two nations. 

Her leadership, exemplified through trade missions, humanitarian initiatives aiding tsunami victims, and ongoing collaborations introducing special Thai coconut varieties to Jamaica, has significantly enriched bilateral relations.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of dignitaries including H.E. Mrs. Marsha Coore Lobban, High Commissioner of Jamaica, H.E. Gline Arley Clarke, High Commissioner of Barbados, Erick Bernard, Counsellor of the Dominican Republic, alongside her husband, Capt Michael Lyn, her son, Michael C Lyn, and the new Honorary Council for Thailand and his wife Denise Dubuque, CBO Island Grill.
