A 64-year-old Jamaican-born schoolteacher was reportedly killed by her husband in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Estella Wheeler, a teacher at Africentric Alternative School in North York, Toronto.
Charged with second-degree murder
Trevor Wheeler was apprehended and charged with second-degree murder, according to reports from Canadian media outlet City News.
Tragic discovery
Authorities were alerted to the scene in the early hours of Wednesday, responding to a distress call from the couple’s semi-detached home in Vaughan.
Upon arrival, they found Estella Wheeler with severe injuries.
Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to her wounds at the scene.
Trevor Wheeler was subsequently taken into custody and charged in connection with his wife’s death.
Unconfirmed cause of death
Although initial reports suggested Estella had been fatally stabbed, official confirmation regarding the cause of death has not been released by the York Regional Police.
