Spain and Portugal have put themselves in a strong position to advance to the 2 round, as I predicted.

France and Denmark are currently joint leaders. Peru by virtue of being defeated, they have given themselves a mountain to climb if they are to advance to the second round. We predicted that Peru and France to would advance, however, this is in doubt.

Croatia sits on top of Group D. There is mounting pressure on Nigeria, Iceland and Argentina to advance from this Group, pending the results of the upcoming games between Argentina vs Nigeria, and Nigeria vs Iceland, we will have a clearer picture of the two teams to advance.
Group E Results

Switzerland 1 Brazil 1
Serbia heads this Group after the first set of matches. The competition will heat up this week when Serbia meets Switzerland and Brazil plays Costa Rica. The results of these matches will us clear indication of the two teams that will advance from this group.
Group F Results

Mexico and Sweden are joint leaders of this group. Germany shock defeat to Mexico sent alarm bells ringing in the camp of the defending champions. Their upcoming game against Sweden, will decide their fate. Mexico will face South Korea and the results from both matches will shed some light on the two that will advance from this group.

Belgium and England as we expected are now joint leaders of this group at the end of the first week. Although we cannot take anything for granted, we expect no major upsets in the upcoming games.

This group was considered the group of death based on their competitiveness. After the first round of matches Japan and Senegal have both put themselves in a strong position to advance, however, neither Columbia nor Poland should not be written off with two rounds remaining. With their upcoming game looming, we will have a clearer picture of which country has the best chance to advance.
