South Florida cricket round-up – Port St. Lucie, St. Bess Emerge The Victors

Port St. Lucie held off an Ambassadors challenge to win by 35 runs, while Palm Beach Titans was no match for St. Bess in Sunday’s South Florida Cricket Alliance 40-Over tournament.

At Girl Scout Friendship Park, Port St. Lucie won the toss and decided to take first strike.

They put up a challenging total of 175 for 8 in their allotted 40 overs with Roger Joshua top scoring with 48, which included four massive sixes and one four.

He was supported by Ricardo Mills, 28; Richard Louis, 24; and Charles Reid, 23. Bowling for Ambassadors, Errol Stewart took 4 for 53 from his eight overs while Frederick Redwood bagged 1 for 16 and Antoine Charlery 1 for 21.

In reply, Ambassadors was bowled out for 140 runs. Cornel White put up a gallant fight by scoring a swashbuckling 62, with four sixes and one four, but did not have the support of his teammates to successfully chase down the target. Frederick Redwood and Cornel Peart each added 17 runs to hand Port St. Lucie the win by 35 runs

Palm Beach Titans vs. St. Bess at MAQ Ground

Palm Beach Titans batted first after winning the toss and was quickly bundled out for a paltry sixty-eight runs in 28.4 of the allotted 40 overs. Errol Rattigan and Paul Ramkissoon each scored 12 runs and Bharat Bapat added 10 runs. Bowling for St. Bess, Nakia Smith knocked over four Titans batsmen for 19 runs while Chrishna Graham bagged 3 for 6 and the young Adam Khan, 2 for 9.

In reply, St Bess raced to 72 for 0. Romaine Morris added 56 not-out from twenty-four ball and Sherlyn was 14 not-out, giving St. Bess the victory by 10 wickets.
