Palm Beach Titans cruised to victory by 7 wickets over Southshore and St Bess crushed Tropics United by 83 runs on Sunday October 14, 2018 in the eighth round of the South Florida Cricket Alliance (SFCA) T-20 competition.
At John Stretch Park, Southshore won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring a measly 95 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Horace Stanley top scored with 29 not-out while Byron Bowes chipped in with a brisk 22 not-out. No other batsman gets to double figures.
The best of the bowlers for the Palm Beach Titans was Mohammed Hossain, who took 2 wickets for 13 runs. In reply, Palm Beach Titans scored 96 for 3 in 16 overs to win by seven wickets. Skipper Andre Fraser opened the innings and carried his team over the finish line with a well-played 51 not-out. He was supported by Mohammed Hossain, 12 not-out. Bowling for Southshore, Sean Richards and Horace each took a wicket for 15 and 17, runs, respectively.
At the Lauderhill Sport Park, Tropics United won the toss and asked the visiting team, St Bess, to take first strike. They then posted a challenging total of 181 for 7.
Masood Mohammed added 34 and Sherwlyn Powell, 32 while Shane Ford scored 26 and O’Brian Jones added 23 not-out. The leading wicket takers for Tropics United were Marcel Graham, 3 for 29; Kimoy Salmon, 2 for 32; and Oswin Howard, 2 for 46.
Tropics United then took the crease and was bowled out for a mere 98 runs. Ernie Joseph added 25 while Nicholas Mittoo and Bert Davis contributed 16 runs each.
Bowling St Bess to a massive 83 run victory was Herlando John, who bagged 4 for 11; Sherwlyn Powell, who grabbed 3 for 14 and Adam Khan who picked up 2 for 24.
