Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce settled for second place in the 100 meters at the Cayman Invitational on Saturday, behind the United States’ Jenna Prandini.
Prandini clocked 11.16 seconds to take the race ahead of Fraser-Pryce, the World and Olympic champion having crossed the tape in 11.33 seconds.
At a Jamaica All Comers meet last month, Fraser-Pryce was victorious, but in a slower 11.52 seconds.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Semoy Hackett finished the race fourth in 11.34 seconds, just behind another American, Aaliyah Brown, who clocked the same time as Fraser-Pryce, the three hitting the tape in a line.
In fifth place was another Jamaican, Schillonie Calvert-Powell, who finished in 11.52 seconds, the same time as the Bahamas’ Tynia Gaither.
Jamaica’s Sherone Simpson was seventh in 11.56, while American Destinee Brown rounded out the field in 11.62 seconds.
Meanwhile, Fraser-Pryce has been added to the 100m at the JN Racers Grand Prix set for June 9 at the National Stadium in Jamaica.
Fraser-Pryce, won gold in the 100m at the 2008 Beijing and London 2012 Olympic Games.
Known as the Pocket Rocket, Fraser-Pryce will next line up against Americans Tori Bowie –the 2017 World Champion, Candice Hill, Jenna Prandini and Kelly-Ann Baptiste of Trinidad and Tobago. Fellow Jamaicans Christania Williams, Gayon Evans and 16 –year-old prodigy Briana Williams complete what will be a crack 100m lineup.
