In a fiery address to a packed audience in South Florida, Mark Golding, leader of Jamaica’s People’s National Party (PNP), didn’t hold back. Accusing the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of pilfering their policies without proper credit, Golding rallied supporters and laid out his vision for a PNP-led Jamaica.
At the La Veranda Restaurant in Sunrise, Florida, Golding faced a fervent crowd, answering questions and outlining his party’s plans. Amidst cheers and nods of agreement, he wasted no time in addressing what he sees as a fundamental issue: governance.
If elected, the PNP would hit the ground running, Golding declared. “On day one, we’ll reinstate the chairing of parliamentary committees by the opposition to set the right tone.”

“I think the governance side of things is very important and to set the right tone for the way in which we will govern the country. We need to get to the point again where the opposition chairs parliamentary committees and can hold the government of the day accountable. I think that needs to be reinstituted and that I would want to do from day one.”
His words resonated deeply with the audience, who nodded in approval. But Golding didn’t stop there. With a laser focus, he outlined the party’s priorities, from education to crime to agriculture.
He told the enthusiastic audience that the party is working hard to finalize all the policy platforms and “sequencing” of how they roll them out.
“We wanna do the most impactful things that we can as early as possible,” he said. “But I don’t want to get into the nitty gritty of that just yet because it’s a little early in the day and I find that the other side wants to take our ideas and run wid it.”
Undeterred, Golding emphasized that the PNP is now fully focused on their policy framework and implementation strategy.
As the evening drew to a close, Golding’s message lingered in the air, a rallying cry for change and accountability. With the PNP extending its lead in the polls, the stage is set for a showdown that could reshape Jamaica’s political landscape.
