Dalton Harris reaches X Factor UK semifinal

Last Sunday Jamaican Dalton Harris thrilled fans at home and overseas when he took another to winning the popular X Factor UK TV talent show in England., when he made it to the semi-finals.

During the on-air show on Saturday night, Harris thrilled judges and audience with his passionate rendition of Listen, from the movie Dreamgirls, and originally recorded by America sininging sensation and actress Beyonce. The impact of is signing was revealed when he was one of the first contestant selected to advance to the semi-finals.

Climbs iTunes chart

After his rendition of ‘Listen’ on Saturday night, the song entered the iTunes singles charts in the UK at number 43, and soared to  number 15 by Sunday evening.

For the past four weeks Harris has been the only X Factor UK contestant with songs on the iTunes chart from the show. His versions of California Dreamin’, Creep, and I Have Nothing from shows of past weeks are also still on the chart. He has also been the top X Factor contestant on this chart since the live performances of the talent show began. Besides Listen, he also has California Dreamin’ and Creep rising on the iTunes chart.

Favorite to win title

Harris’s consistent superb performances make him a favorite to take the coveted title. On Saturday’s airing of the show. music legend Nile Rodgers, a guest judge, said Harris was his pick to win the X-Factor UK title.  British singer, Cheryl, the guest performer on Saturday’s show also named Harris, 24, and the winner of Jamaica’s “Rising Stars” in 2010, as her favorite to win the title.

The semi-final of the show will be held on Saturday November 24, and the finals on December 1.
