2019 Reggae Grammy nominees hailed

Culture Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange today congratulated nominees for the Best Reggae Album category for the 61st annual Grammy Awards.

The Grammy Awards nominees for the 2019 Best Reggae Album category have been announced. The nominees for the 61st annual awards are :

  • Reggae Forever – Etana
  • As the World Turns – Black Uhuru
  • Rebellion Rises – Ziggy Marley
  • A Matter of Time – Protoje
  • 44/876 – Sting & Shaggy

In congratulating the nominees Jamaica’s Minister of Culture, Olivia “Babsy” Grange said, “I must make special mention of Etana who has become the first woman in several years to be nominated for the Reggae Grammy. This is a welcomed recognition of her many years of hard work and excellent music,”

The minister also offered special congratulations to Protoje who was receiving his first nomination.

“Protoje is another young reggae artiste making a significant mark on the music. We can all be proud his achievements,” Grange added.

“Each of this year’s nominees is deserving of this honor and I look forward to the announcement of the winner in the new year,” Grange said.

The Grammy Awards will be presented at a special event and show in February, 2019.
