Versatile Jamaica international Greg Leigh says he hopes to put injuries behind him after joining English League One side Morecambe on a one-year deal following his release by Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.
The 26-year-old Reggae Boyz defender made nine appearances for Aberdeen last season, having moved to Pittodrie from Dutch side NAC Breda in the summer of 2019.
Principally a left-back, the former Manchester City trainee has also had spells at Bury, Bradford and Crewe.
Said UK-born Leigh: “I’ve been unfortunate with injuries, so I’m looking forward to putting them behind me and really propelling forward.”
Added manager Stephen Robinson whose side nicknamed the Shrimps won promotion from League Two via the play-offs last season: “He comes with good pedigree.
“He’s had injury problems so that’s probably the reason we’ve got him, otherwise he’d be playing at a higher level, so it’s a case now of keeping him fit, working slowly with him and getting him back to full fitness and I think he’ll be a big asset to us.
“Greg is versatile – he can play left-back, he can play in midfield as well and he gives us that pace and energy.”
Leigh has appeared twice for the Reggae Boyz after making his debut in a 3-0 defeat in a friendly against Saudi Arabia in November 2020.
