The CDC Says All Americans Should Avoid Travel to Jamaica

In an updated travel advisory, the United States’ top public health agency, the CDC has urged all Americans not to travel to Jamaica. This includes Americans that are fully vaccinated.

On April 2nd, the CDC issued a level four advisory for Jamaica, the highest level for COVID-19 cases.

The agency said that because of the current situation on the island, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 and should avoid all travel. The CDC stated that if any American must travel to Jamaica, they should get fully vaccinated first.

Additionally, the agency urged all Americans to wear a mask, stay six feet from others, avoid crowds, and wash their hands regularly while on the island.

Jamaica has over 41,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The government has imposed measures to curb the spread of the virus including an 8 PM islandwide curfew and three weekend lockdowns, which end on April 12.
