The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women, under the Office of Community Advocacy, and in partnership with the Women’s Fund Miami-Dade, will host “Black Women’s Equal Pay Day: Community Solutions for Pay Equity” virtual event at 4 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 13 via Zoom.
There will be a panel discussion followed by a group solution building and planning session around the pay equity problem. Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava will present the proclamation declaring “Black Women Equal Pay Day” in #OurCounty.
Black Women’s Equal Pay Day is the approximate day a Black woman must work into the new year to make what white non-Hispanic man made at the end of the previous year.
Based on ACS Census data, the 2020 wage gap for Black women compared to non-Hispanic white men is $0.62 (cents). You may register for this event at bit.ly/PayEquity2020.
