South Florida Cricket Round-Up: Three Crack Centuries In Semis

Three batsmen thrilled fans with a century each as the semi-finals of the South Florida Cricket Alliance, (SFCA), concluded last weekend.

At MAQ ground, Lauderhill Jammers faced Port St. Lucie and decided to bat after winning the toss. However, they were soon reeling at 28 for 3 with wickets falling at 0, 21 and 28. It was then that Dean Morgan and Galvin Wallace came together, putting on a 270-run partnership.

By the time the fourth wicket had fallen, Dean Morgan had added well-played 131 runs, which included 6 sixes and 4 fours. Wallace then found a useful partner in Elvis Watson and the pair added another 63 runs before Galvin Wallace departed with a top score of 178 runs off 82 balls. His innings contained16 sixes and 6 fours.

Jammers went on to score 378 in their allotted 40 overs. The best bowlers for Port St. Lucie were Aaron Baldeau and Ricardo Mills who bagged 2 for 50 and 2 for 72, respectively.

In reply, Port St. Lucie could only muster 118 for 7 in their allotted 40 overs with Neil Greene adding 56 including 3 sixes and 2 fours and Elton Tucker Jr. 12. They were the only batsmen who got into double figures. Omari Williams grabbed 3 for 33 from 8 overs which included 2 maidens, to give the Lauderhill Jammers a massive 260 run victory.

St. Bess Vs Tropics

St. Bess faced Tropics at Miramar Regional Park north and batted first after skipper St. Christopher Brown won the toss and elected to bat.

St. Bess reached 269 for 8 in their allotted 40 overs with Brian Trooper Gayle top scoring with 126 runs, which included 9 sixes and 5 fours from 85 balls. Shane Ford chipped in with 55 while Masood Mohammed added 24 and Clevon Sailsman, 18.

Bowling for Tropics, Oswin Howard bagged 4 for 47 from 8 overs.

In reply, Tropics were bowled out for 100 runs with Oswin Howard scoring 22 and St. Christopher Brown, 19. Bowling for St Bess, Sherwlyn Powell grabbed 4 for 16 from 6.2 overs and Chrishna Graham, 3 for 19 to hand St. Bess a 169 run victory.
