President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Mike Ricketts says the reason for having the game in Turkey is to expose the local players to Turkish clubs with a view to securing trials and contracts with those teams.

The January 31 fixture will play a part in preparation for Jamaica for the inaugural CONCACAF League of Nations tournament which begins in September. This would be the fourth time that Jamaica and South Korea will be meeting as previously Jamaica has lost twice and drawn once against the Red Devils.

The last time both teams played each-other was in 2015, where Jamaica lost 3-0. South Korea will be participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup as they are in Group ‘F’ with Germany, Sweden and Mexico. Their best finish in a World Cup was 4th in 2002. President Ricketts is also hoping to secure a friendly match on the next FIFA date in March.
