In the heart of Kingston’s busy business district, the recently renovated Courtyard by Marriott Kingston is rolling out a refreshed hospitality experience, combining modern sophistication with distinctly Jamaican warmth and culture.

The hotel, located at 1 Park Close in New Kingston and operating since 2015, has unveiled upgraded public spaces including its lobby, restaurant and bar—now rebranded as the “Kitchen and Bar” restaurant. Management says the transformation strengthens its position as one of the capital’s leading business hotels while also enhancing its appeal as a social hub for both locals and international visitors.

Since its opening, the property has served corporate travelers, diplomats and leisure guests seeking contemporary comfort paired with global Marriott standards. As Kingston continues to expand as a regional centre for commerce, entertainment and culture, the hotel says its redesign reflects that broader evolution.

Senior Sales Manager Romie Morris said the renovation was driven by changing guest expectations and the need for more dynamic hospitality spaces. “The renovation was inspired by our commitment to evolve with the needs of today’s traveler,” he said, adding that the new design focuses on flexibility, comfort and a stronger reflection of Kingston’s energy.

The redesigned lobby replaces the traditional segmented hotel entrance with an open, multifunctional space filled with natural light, modern furnishings and subtle Caribbean design elements. The new layout allows the area to shift easily between business use during the day and relaxed social settings in the evening, supported by enhanced connectivity and work-friendly stations.

Morris said the aim is to create a seamless experience where guests can move between work, leisure and social interaction. “We want every touch point, from arrival to dining, to feel contemporary, comfortable, and intuitive,” he said.

Beyond aesthetics, the renovation is being positioned as a wider investment in Jamaica’s tourism and hospitality sector. Morris described the relaunch as a key milestone that reinforces the property’s long-term commitment to maintaining its status as a premier business hotel in Jamaica.

Food and beverage offerings have also been significantly upgraded. The hotel’s restaurant, buffet and bar have been modernized with expanded layouts and interactive dining features designed to elevate the guest experience. These include live cooking stations such as omelet, pasta and carving stations aimed at increasing engagement between chefs and diners.

Morris said the enhancements are designed to meet growing demand for fresh, locally inspired cuisine and more diverse dining options, aligning with global hospitality trends while maintaining Jamaican culinary identity.

The hotel’s redesigned bar is also expected to play a central role in the new concept, positioned as a social and networking hub for guests and Kingston professionals. General Manager Lee-Ann Godfrey said the space is designed to merge business and leisure seamlessly, with a modern aesthetic and relaxed atmosphere.

Plans are also underway to introduce themed evenings, signature cocktails, live music and curated entertainment to reflect Kingston’s nightlife culture and broaden the venue’s appeal beyond hotel guests.

Godfrey said the renovation also reflects the hotel’s relationship with its corporate partners. “These relationships are fundamental to our success,” she said, noting that the upgrades are part of a broader effort to strengthen long-standing business ties.

The investment comes as Kingston continues to gain momentum as a destination for both business and leisure travel. Godfrey said the project reflects confidence in Jamaica’s growing tourism and corporate travel markets, adding that the capital is increasingly seen as a key regional hub.

While the current upgrades mark a major milestone, further enhancements are planned, including modernized meeting spaces, a reimagining of the poolside “The View” area, and future room upgrades.

For now, hotel management says early feedback has been positive, with guests highlighting the improved comfort, modern design and upgraded ambiance. As Kingston’s hospitality sector continues to evolve, the Courtyard by Marriott Kingston says it aims to evolve alongside it, positioning itself as a contemporary space where business, culture and hospitality intersect.
