According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident occurred just before the Pompano Service Plaza, forcing troopers to block the main lanes and close the on-ramp between Commercial Boulevard and Pompano Beach.

7Droneforce captured aerial footage of the scene, showing shattered glass and scattered debris across the roadway. Both vehicles involved were heavily damaged, with one so severely struck that its engine was dislodged and left lying on the expressway.

Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and confirmed that at least one person had died. One body had to be extracted from a mangled vehicle.

Traffic delays now stretch from Sheridan Street to Sunrise Boulevard, and authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes, such as U.S. 441, while the investigation continues.

There is no word yet on what caused the crash or when the lanes will reopen.
