Caribbean stars shine bright for Reggae on the River 2025

Reggae on the River returns for its 36th edition from August 1–3, 2025. Nestled along the banks of the Eel River, this globally recognized festival is once again putting the spotlight on the powerful influence of Caribbean music and culture.

This year’s lineup is a vibrant showcase of the region’s best, with a strong Caribbean presence led by Tarrus Riley, Busy Signal, Bugle, Julian Marley, Queen Omega, Charly Black, Mr. Vegas, Luciano, Yellowman, and Third World.

Tarrus Riley, who will headline Saturday night’s performances, is no stranger to commanding large stages. Coming off a packed summer schedule, including an upcoming set at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Riley is excited to bring his soulful voice to the Eel River stage.

Busy Signal, known for his versatility across dancehall, reggae, and afrobeat, will close the festival on Sunday night. His 2025 has already included standout performances in New York and Europe, and he remains one of the genre’s most dynamic performers.

“Reggae music and Reggae On The River, you have to be there,” said Busy via social media “My band and I are looking forward to rock with you.”

Joining them is Julian Marley, fresh off his Grammy-winning project “Colors of Royal”, bringing a message of unity and spiritual upliftment.

Bugle, whose recent album APEX continues to highlight his thoughtful songwriting and dedication to uplifting messages, adds depth to the lineup. His work in 2025 has earned him acclaim both locally and abroad, especially for his role in preserving the conscious roots of Jamaican music.

Roots reggae legend Luciano and dancehall mainstays Charly Black and Mr. Vegas will also bring contrasting styles—from foundation roots to energetic party anthems—showcasing the diversity of Jamaica’s musical exports.

Representing Trinidad and Tobago is Queen Omega, whose blend of roots reggae, dub, and Afro-Caribbean energy has made her a festival favorite across Europe and Latin America. Her powerful presence and revolutionary lyrics promise a standout set. Also performing are reggae legends Third World and dancehall pioneer Yellowman

A festival beyond the stage

Reggae on the River offers more than just performances. Attendees can enjoy:

  • The Jah Mall Marketplace, with over 50 artisan and craft vendors from around the globe
  • Kidlandia, a family-friendly zone with games, puppet shows, and snacks
  • Sound system afterparties featuring legends like King Addies International (Brooklyn, NY) and Jah Works Sound (Osaka, Japan)

With three stages, riverfront camping, and a backdrop unlike any other, the event blends natural beauty with a deep appreciation for reggae’s Caribbean roots.

Launched in 1984 as a fundraiser for the Mateel Community Center, Reggae on the River has evolved into a cultural landmark. While the festival attracts international acts, it continues to prioritize Caribbean voices. For Caribbean nationals living abroad, ROTR offers a taste of home: from the music and language to the food, crafts, and community spirit. For international audiences, it’s an invitation to experience authentic Caribbean culture in one of America’s most scenic regions.
