According to an official statement issued by the GDF, Lance Corporal Tudor fell overboard while navigating the Makapa Rapids along the Cuyuni River. Immediate rescue efforts were launched by his patrol team, followed by an extensive search operation involving GDF units and local partners. His body was recovered earlier today, approximately 800 meters from the point where he fell into the river.

Lance Corporal Tudor, who was attached to the 1 Infantry Battalion and deployed at Location Eteringbang at the time of the incident, was remembered by the GDF for his professionalism, discipline, and commitment to duty.

“The GDF extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues,” the statement said. “The Force stands in solidarity with all ranks as we mourn the loss of a soldier who died in the line of duty.”

The Defence Force has launched a Board of Inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Meanwhile, the GDF says it will continue to provide support to Tudor’s loved ones during this time of grief.
