Curaçao to expand cruise industry with new land development

The Government of Curaçao has officially transferred a key land reservation in the Rif area to the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), marking a significant step forward in enhancing the island’s cruise industry. This development will enable the expansion of the cruise terminal’s logistics capacity, allowing Curaçao to better accommodate the increasing number of visitors and support the growth of its tourism sector.

The decision comes as Curaçao’s cruise sector continues to thrive. In 2024, the island recorded a historic 834,530 cruise arrivals, marking a 17 percent increase compared to 2023 and surpassing initial projections by 4 percent. Impressively, this growth also represents a 3 percent rise over the peak year of 2019, further solidifying Curaçao’s status as one of the top cruise destinations in the Caribbean.

Curaçao is truly the vacation destination of your dreams. This colorful, vibrant island offers some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, top-rated hotels and all-inclusive resorts, and a wealth of unique cultural experiences and events. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or as a couple, there’s no shortage of activities to enjoy. From breathtaking scenic views to the lively, welcoming spirit of the local community, every aspect of Curaçao is authentically its own, making it a one-of-a-kind paradise to explore.

The expansion is set to improve logistics, streamline operations, and enhance the overall experience for cruise visitors. Government officials and representatives from the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the island’s position in the global cruise market. Their efforts are aimed at ensuring long-term sustainability and delivering ongoing economic benefits to Curaçao.
