CWI President Shallow hails West Indies’ historic Test triumph in Pakistan

JOHN’S, Antigua–Cricket West Indies (CWI) president Dr. Kishore Shallow has showered accolades on the West Indies men’s cricket team following their sensational 120-run victory over Pakistan in the second Test at Multan on Monday—a historic feat that ended a 34-year drought of Test wins on Pakistani soil.

The resounding triumph, which saw the Caribbean side dominate the hosts inside three days, was spearheaded by the brilliant Jomel Warrican, who delivered an extraordinary bowling performance, clinching a record-equalling 19 wickets across the two-match series.

Dr. Shallow, in an official statement issued on Monday, lauded the squad for their resilience, tactical discipline, and unwavering spirit, describing the victory as a true embodiment of West Indian cricketing excellence.

A testament to West Indies fighting spirit

“This victory is a testament to the skills, determination, and fighting spirit that define West Indies cricket,” Dr. Shallow declared.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaching staff, and management for this historic accomplishment. Their ability to rise to the challenge in challenging conditions is a reflection of their grit and unwavering commitment to the game.”

The CWI president singled out Jomel Warrican, whose mesmerizing bowling displays played a pivotal role in securing the series-tying win.

“Special commendation must go to Jomel Warrican for his exemplary performance, which was absolutely instrumental in our success,” Shallow emphasized.

Additionally, he applauded the leadership of captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who masterfully guided his team with astute tactical awareness and aggressive intent.

“Captain Kraigg Brathwaite’s shrewd and bold leadership was crucial in shaping this victory, and his ability to marshal his troops in tough conditions deserves immense recognition,” Shallow stated.

Acknowledging coach Andre Coley’s contribution

As West Indies celebrated their historic achievement, Dr. Shallow also took a moment to express gratitude to outgoing Test head coach Andre Coley, whose tenure at the helm of the red-ball team has now come to an end.

“André Coley has played a significant role in West Indies cricket, and we are deeply grateful for his leadership, hard work, and contributions as red-ball head coach during his tenure,” Shallow noted.

Coley’s departure marks the end of an era, but his dedication and influence will remain a cornerstone of the team’s development in the longest format of the game.
