Miami International Airport (MIA) achieved a historic milestone on Saturday, surpassing 200,000 passengers for the first time ever. A total of 201,180 travelers passed through the airport, setting a new record for the most passengers in a single day. This achievement highlights the airport’s growing traffic and its importance as a major hub for international and domestic travel.
Airport officials said the milestone was a long-standing goal and made even more impressive since the airport is undergoing a $9 billion modernization program.
Miami International Airport is expecting more than 3 million passengers during the 17-day travel period for Christmas and New Year’s Day from Saturday, December 21, to Monday, January 6, 2025 for a 1% increase over last year’s record-breaking travel season and a daily average of nearly 165,000 travelers.
