The Bahamas police are investigating a tragic boat incident that resulted in the death of a 64-year-old male visitor from Florida.
According to authorities, police were alerted to the situation around 5 pm yesterday. Medical personnel and police were summoned to a dock site in Green Turtle Cay in Abaco, when they arrived they found an unresponsive Caucasian man with head injuries onboard a Florida-registered vessel. The vessel had three other passengers. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is reported that the boat had departed from Guana Cay when it encountered a large wave, causing the man to hit his head and fall overboard. The other passengers on the boat managed to retrieve him from the water, but he was unresponsive.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the man’s death. While the investigation is still ongoing, the preliminary reports suggest that the incident was an accident.
