Thompson captured the title in the women’s 100m hurdles with a remarkable time of 12.73 seconds. Thompson’s victory headlined a Jamaican 1-2 finish, as compatriot Britany Anderson followed closely in second place, clocking 12.89 seconds. The duo dominated the event, leaving Germany’s Marlene Meier, who achieved a personal best of 12.93 seconds, to claim third place.

Thompson’s triumph is a significant milestone in her hurdling career, further solidifying Jamaica’s dominance in the sprint hurdles on the global stage. Her ability to excel under pressure continues to elevate her status among the world’s elite hurdlers.

Another third-place finish

In the men’s 110m hurdles, Jamaica’s Omar McLeod, the 2016 Olympic champion, secured another third-place finish following his performance at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome. McLeod completed the race in 13.28 seconds, finishing behind American star Grant Holloway, who won the event with a time of 13.14 seconds, and France’s Rachid Muratake, who took second in 13.21 seconds.

The ISTAF Berlin Meeting also saw a record-breaking performance from Shafiqua Maloney, who set a new national record for St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the women’s 600m. Maloney clocked an impressive 1:22.98 minutes, surpassing her previous personal best and establishing a new standard for her country. The fiercely contested race was won by Kenya’s Mary Moraa in 1:21.63 minutes, with Germany’s Alica Schmidt finishing third in 1:24.88 minutes.

Once again, Jamaican athletes made a strong showing on the international circuit, demonstrating their relentless talent and determination at the ISTAF Berlin Meeting.
