An teenager was shot and killed in Oakland Park, and detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding his murder.
According to reports shortly before 12 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 24, Broward County Regional Communications received reports of a shooting near the 2100 block of Northwest 28th Street in Oakland Park. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded. BSO deputies located an adult male in a driveway who had been shot. Deputies quickly established a perimeter and canvassed the area. The victim, identified as 18 year old Ammon Watson, was pronounced deceased on scene.
Detectives with BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide Units were notified and are actively investigating. According to investigators, the shooter ran up to the victim while he was in a driveway of a family home and shot him. The shooter then fled on foot. Detectives believe this is an isolated incident.
