Oblique Seville has exuded confidence as he prepares for his highly anticipated clashes against the highly fancied Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson among other top competitors at the Paris Olympic Games.
The Jamaican sprinting sensation arrived in Paris ready to compete in the men’s 100m and 4x100m relay events.
Seville, 23, arrived in Paris alongside his compatriots in high spirits. In a video shared by TVJ News, Seville expressed his readiness for the upcoming challenges, saying, “To all the Jamaican fans, I’m okay.”
Natoya Goule-Toppin, Jamaica’s 800m star, was also seen in the video, showcasing a positive and upbeat mood as she prepares for her own clashes against Mary Moraa, Keely Hodgkinson, and other top athletes.
An impressive season
Seville has had an impressive season, losing only one 100m race where he finished second with a remarkable 9.82 seconds at the Jamaican Olympic trials. The event was won by Kishane Thompson, who clocked a world-leading time of 9.77 seconds. Seville had previously beaten Noah Lyles at the Racers Grand Prix, clocking 9.82 seconds ahead of Lyles’ 9.83 seconds. Additionally, Seville won the 200m at the Velocity Fest 14 and the 400m at the Camperdown Classics.
Returning to the Olympic stage after his fourth-place finish in the 100m semi-final at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games, Seville is determined to continue his upward trajectory. He was also part of the relay team that finished fourth in Tokyo. With more experience under his belt, Seville is poised for a strong performance in Paris.
He will face tough competition from Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, the fastest American this year Noah Lyles, and defending champion Marcel Jacobs. Joining him in the quest for Olympic glory are his fellow Jamaican sprinters Kishane Thompson and Ackeem Blake.
As Seville prepares for the high-stakes competition, his confidence and readiness signal a promising performance for Team Jamaica at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
