VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES – Rain played a decisive role in the CWI Rising Stars Under-19 Men’s 2-Day Championship on Friday, leading to the abandonment of two out of three scheduled matches.
The weather disrupted play between the Leeward Islands and Guyana at the Park Hill Playing Field, as well as the match between Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago at the Sion Hill Playing Field, resulting in both contests ending in draws.
The only match that saw some cricket on day two was the encounter between the Windward Islands and defending champions Jamaica at Arnos Vale. Despite the efforts of the players, rain remained a constant threat, impacting the rhythm of the game.
In the match between Guyana and the Leeward Islands, Guyana led by 27 runs entering day two. However, no play was possible due to the persistent rain. The scores at the end of day one were:
- Guyana U-19s: 111 all out in 34.2 overs (Jonathan van Lange 28, Rampertab Ramnauth 22; Nathan Edward 5-21, Micah McKenzie 2-18, Matthew Miller 2-23)
- Leeward Islands U-19s: 84-2 in 20 overs (Michael Palmer 24, Devanand Singh 22*, Jewel Andrew 16*)
