Wealdstone Football Club has announced the signing of veteran defender Adrian Mariappa, formerly of Watford, Crystal Palace, and the Jamaican national team.
The 37-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the club, having played more than 500 games over a 19-year career that included stints at Reading, Bristol City, Burton Albion, and most recently, Salford City.
Mariappa, who left Salford City last month, has been a significant presence on the international stage as well, featuring over 60 times for Jamaica in competitions such as the CONCACAF Gold Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
“Adrian has a fantastic pedigree and for us to secure his signature is a huge bonus for the football club,” said Wealdstone manager Matt Taylor on the club’s website. “He will be a big character within the squad, and his leadership skills will be vital for the upcoming season.”
Mariappa joined Salford City in March 2023 and played 47 times for the club. His addition to Wealdstone is expected to bolster the team’s defense and provide invaluable guidance and experience to the squad as they prepare for the new season.
