The Philadelphia Union and goalkeeper Andre Blake have agreed to terms on a new contract, extending Blake’s tenure with the club.
Blake’s current deal was set to expire at the end of 2024, but the Jamaican star has committed to staying in Philadelphia beyond that period, sources briefed on the deal told The Athletic.
Blake, the only player in Major League Soccer (MLS) history to win three Goalkeeper of the Year awards (2016, 2020, 2022), holds the record for the most appearances in the history of the Union with 283. The 33-year-old has spent his entire professional career with the Union, having been selected No. 1 overall in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. His presence has been crucial to the team’s success over the past six years.

The Union celebrated their first-ever trophy with the 2020 Supporters’ Shield and made their first MLS Cup final in 2022. They have consistently reached the playoffs for the past six seasons, establishing themselves as one of the most reliable teams in MLS.
This season, Blake has faced injuries, limiting him to only eight appearances across all competitions, with five in MLS. Despite these challenges, his importance to the team remains undisputed.
Internationally, Blake has earned 75 caps for Jamaica and was recently named in Heimir Hallgrímsson’s squad for the Copa America. He is set to start in Jamaica’s opening game against Mexico on June 23.
